Our Fleet

Mira Forestry has one of the most modern forestry fleets in eastern Nova Scotia. Continually upgrading and striving for best practices in technology and resources, we have upgraded to include new feller buncher, harvesters and forwarders, as well as two truck and trailer units for transporting wood products to the pulp mill and other markets.

Feller Buncher

John Deere 753J with RF21B Bunching Head

This machine is the first phase of our modern forestry operation. It moves into a stand of wood with the intention of positioning certain trees according to species and their potential marketplace.

The Feller Buncher enables Mira to harvest every type of wood product on Cape Breton Island. We make effective use of both high-value and low-grade forestry products.

Harvester

Mira’s two harvesters arrive after the Feller Buncher has completed preparing the site. This equipment processes the positioned trees and further sorts them into piles according to their intended use.

Forwarder

john deere 1010E

Mira’s two forwarders haul wood from the forest to roadside with the least environmental impact possible. We have two purpose-built, environmentally-friendly thinning forwarders. These machines feature light-weight construction and eco-tracks to reduce the machine’s tire footprint on the ground.

The forwarders carry a high volume of product per trip, reducing the amount of return trips to the forest.

Trucks and Trailers

Mira’s two tractor trailers—with integrated emission systems—keep the carbon footprint low when delivering product. Proper weight restriction gauges and safety procedures ensure low-risk delivery to the destination.
