Forestry management begins with environmentally responsible roadbuilding. Mira Forestry has extensive experience building access roads to harvesting sites and have built over 100 kilometres of access roads. Our excavator and bulldozer are the first step in safely moving equipment in and out of the forest. Our expertise is also contracted to build residential roadways.

Forest Management and Preparation

Mira Forestry has been building relationships with private woodlot owners for generations. Most Cape Breton-located private woodlot owners collaborate with Mira when they are interested in having their harvested. Our management also includes large landowners with desirable wood supply. Mira is often offered the opportunity to harvest private lands that have a large amount of undesirable, low-value wood mass which makes it unfeasible to harvest and recover operating costs. With our green wood chip heating facilities landowners can have their properties under forest management allowing for replanting or regeneration. By including low grade wood in the harvesting process, the woodlot increases in value as higher grade wood has space to grow.
