A Greener Alternative
As recognized in Climate Change Plan for Clean Growth (2022) and in the Lahey Report (2018), biomass and low-carbon renewable alternatives present a unique opportunity for Nova Scotia as it looks to find readily available and environmentally sustainable fuel sources.
Mira Forestry has been a leader in the industry for over 30 years and provides a full-service approach, from the creation of wood chips to the installations and operation of wood chip heating facilities. The vertically integrated approach taken by Mira enables it to design, build, operate, and monitor wood chip heating facilities, in addition to providing all the necessary servicing and heating fuel at no additional cost to the client.

Since 2020, Mira has participated in two projects to convert fossil fuel heating systems in high schools to locally sourced wood chip heating. As part of these projects, Mira was contracted to design, build, and operate new sustainable wood chip heating facilities, in addition to the long-term supplying of wood chips for operations. Mira was able to deliver, install, and operate the new facilities on time and on budget.
These projects highlight our experience working with government organizations and agencies to provide greener and more sustainable heating solutions. Mira’s low carbon alternatives will help to meet the provincial and federal mandates on sustainability and emissions reductions.
